The Michigan racetrack at Mount Pleasant Meadows first held racing in 1985 and on a 4 furlong oval dirt track with 6 furlong chute and 130 metre home straight on Isabella County Fairgrounds, to the north of Mount Pleasant. The track had rudimentary facilities which included an open air grandstand which had the capacity to seat 3,400 people. The track had been used for harness racing, but on 21st June 1985 offered quarter horse racing, and in the season from July to October offered Arabian horse racing. The culmination of the racing season was the Michigan Sires Stakes which moved to Hazel Park once this track closed. When it finally closed for racing in 2014 it reverted to a training facility called the Isabella County Training Facility. |
